On the 23rd of November 11 people gathered at 350 Woodlands Road to start their search their family trees. They now know where to start and what and where to find them. ( WE HOPE) Some had a great start and other will have to look a little harder. Some had a few surprises.

The genealogy group met on the 18th of June. We managed to help one lady probe a little deeper in to her ancestors.

On a wet, dark afternoon 19th March, seven enthusiasts met, and tried to track down more of their ancestors. with some luck.

Waterside Tours have a coach trip to Kew National Archives, on June 12th 2010. You have to book through them at Hythe, phone 8084 4788. I believe it costs £15.

The November genealogy meeting was held on the 20th, and we had fruitful search for most of our members.
We managed to decipher the cause of death on one of Jack's relatives. This wasn't easy as the writing was worse than our Prime Ministers.
The next meeting will be held on March 19th. @ 2pm.

The Genealogy group met today, 21st August. We had a small but interesting gathering. We found another connection for one of the members family. It was a pleasant to talk to Brian Gilby about his family, and to see all the paper work that he has done on his tree, here and "DOWN UNDER". He also connects historical events with family movements, which makes it more interesting.
Once again Tessa Davis was a great help, she always is.
The next meeting will be NOVEMBER 20th 2009, at 350 Woodlands Road. From 2pm--4pm.

We had a successful meeting this afternoon. One member was able to trace her family back to 1790, much to her delight.
The next meeting will be on AUGUST 21st, all welcome.

The Genealogy club held their meeting at 350 Woodlands Road. There were 11 of us, some just starting and others well ahead of the game, but ALL are welcome. Several family links were found. We also had a look at the 1911 England Census, but not all counties are listed yet. Also Scotland and Wales will be on line soon.
Once again I MUST thank Tessa Davis for all her help. Without her help and knowledge in this field, I would be lost.
Our next meeting will be Friday MAY 15th, 2pm at Woodlands Road.
This will give time to track down some Kinsman.

The genealogy group had a good meeting today, there were nine of us.
Brian Gilby brought along a fantastic family album, that his wife's cousin had put together of their family tree, complete with photos, full names, places and dates. This is what we try to tell every one who takes photos, write down WHO they are,and the DATE.
A lot of help has be put forward by Tessa Davis,she is a wealth of knowledge in this field.

Genealogy group for 16th May.
A small but enthusiastic group discussed the implications of the enclosure of some of the common land in the mid 1800's. This caused families to move off the land,or emigrate, which makes it difficult to trace some ancestors.
The next meeting will be on JUNE 20th.

The genealogy group had a small but very interesting meeting. Several of the group found out a few more pieces to their family puzzles.
As it is GOOD FRIDAY March 21st we all decided there will be NO meeting that day.
The next meeting will be on APRIL 18th 2008. Same time and place.

A group of 9 got together and helped each other in trying to track down our distant families. One of the group found that one of his family went down with the Titanic.
The next meeting will be Feb: 15th 2008.

The genealogy group had a good meeting, we had 12 show up, and 12 different problems to try to solve. We managed to solve some, but the rest we will try at our January meeting.
There will be no meeting in December.
During my research on my mother's side of the family,I may have found a relative that I did not know, living on the other end of my road.

17 Family History Buffs attended the Jan:19th Genealogy meeting.
As this subject is becoming so popular - we plan to break up into smaller groups, as some wish to go on the computer, and others wish to draw up family trees, and others to check on B.M.D.certificates.
